Daytona International Speedway will host a NASCAR Cup Series race weekend on June 1, 2023, track general manager Frank Kelleher announced Tuesday.

The race, which will be the first Cup Series event at Daytona since the Daytona 500 in February, will be the first of two races at the track this year.

The second race, the Coke Zero Sugar 400, is scheduled for August 26.

"We are elated to welcome the NASCAR Cup Series back to Daytona International Speedway on June 1," Kelleher said in a statement.

The June 1 race will be the first Cup Series race at Daytona since the track underwent a $400 million renovation project.

The project included the addition of new grandstands, a new infield road course, and a new pedestrian tunnel.

The race will also be the first Cup Series race at Daytona since NASCAR implemented a new points system.

The new system is designed to reward drivers for winning races and finishing in the top 10.
